PARAMOUNT WORKSHOP — MAY 2025

photos by Brett Beiner Photography

MIJA at Paramount Theatre’s Spark Lab Series

This spring, Mija was honored to be selected for Paramount Theatre’s inaugural Spark Lab Series, a week-long developmental workshop residency designed to support new theatrical works. Guided by a talented creative team and supported by Paramount’s wonderful staff, a brilliant cast of Chicago-based actors, Broadway talents Marina Pires & Omar Lopez-Cepero & Mija's close collaborator Adriana Ripley, presented a public concert reading of the piece. The experience was invaluable in refining the narrative, strengthening the storytelling, and connecting with audiences in a new way. We’re grateful to have shared this step in Mija’s journey with the vibrant Paramount community and deeply grateful to The Aurora Women’s Empowerment Foundation and Healing Illinois. (Learn more ...)

This summer, the entire Mija creative team traveled to Guatemala, to present Mija, for the first time, in a beautiful concert reading at the “Hugo Carrillo” Camara Theater in Guatemala City. The full Guatemalan cast also shared the stage with Broadway's Marina Pires & our fabulosa Adriana Ripley! The audience response blew us away and we can't wait to return for a full staged production! Date TBD
