Mija Is Already Streaming — And We’re Just Getting Started!
Several songs from Mija are already available on major platforms, giving listeners a glimpse of our bilingual, Latin-infused score. You can stream tracks like “Still Breathing,” “Dance Forever Tonight,” and “Woman Warrior” on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and more.
But today we’re thrilled to announce the next, bigger step…
NINE YEARS OF COMMUNITY
OUR NEXT BIG STEP
For almost a decade, Mija has thrived on the generosity of its community. From that first garage read-through in Eugene,
Oregon, to workshops in New York, Los Angeles, Guatemala, and, just last month, at Paramount Theatre outside Chicago, every milestone has been powered by people who believe this story matters. We believe this Central-American family story about belonging, resilience, choice, and community deserves to be heard, especially when it’s told by a women-led, bilingual creative team.
WHY AN EP & WHY NOW?
Our recent Paramount workshop showed us once again how deeply Mija moves audiences and how urgently the music needs to be preserved. So, this August, out brilliant songwriters Anna Gilbert and Gaby Moreno will head into a professional studio to record the show’s first EP — a six-track collection pairing audience favorites with brand-new songs heard only in Guatemala and at Paramount.
We’re also thrilled to share that several celebrated Latin artists are joining us in the studio, including:
-
a global vocalist whose signature hit boasts billions of streams, and
-
multiple Grammy-winning musicians!
Capturing these voices singing Mija's music will create the strongest calling card we’ve ever had, one that can open doors to producers nationwide and keep Mija’s momentum building toward a full production.
JOIN US!
To secure every guest artist and musician, we’re raising $15,000. Every contribution, large or small, covers studio time, fair wages for players, essential travel, and post-production costs.
If Mija’s journey moves you, please consider a gift or share this page with a friend who loves new theatre. Your belief in us keeps this bilingual, intergenerational story moving toward the stage.
With gratitude y amor,
Anna Gilbert, Gaby Moreno, Rebecca Touriño Collinsworth & Evynne Hollens

SUMMER 2024
Oct 26-27, 2023 NAMT Finalist presented at The 35th Annual Festival of New Musicals at New World Stages in NYC

This summer, the entire Mija creative team traveled to Guatemala, to present Mija, for the first time, in a beautiful concert reading at the “Hugo Carrillo” Camara Theater in Guatemala City. The full Guatemalan cast also shared the stage with Broadway's Marina Pires & our fabulosa Adriana Ripley! The audience response blew us away and we can't wait to return for a full staged production! Date TBD
